A major new safety initiative from Registro Italiano Navale (Rina) on ferry and ro-ro passenger (ropax) vessels could spur regulatory improvements, as the Italian classification society seeks to help owners operate safely and well above minimum international standards.
As reported previously, Rina Services, the operational arm of the class society, extended its Asset Integrity Management scheme to ropaxes last week as an add-on service to indentify safety critical risk factors and offer tailor-made solutions.
