A Polish crewman is seeking a staggering $271m in a US federal lawsuit against Royal Caribbean Cruises and several other companies after he suffered a stroke that left him partially paralysed.
Andrezej Tarasewicz, 48, filed the lawsuit in a federal court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, over injuries he suffered on the 3,634-berth Liberty of the Seas (built 2007).
Through lawyers, Tarasewicz alleges that he suffered a “massive ischemic stroke” in mid-December 2012 that was misdiagnosed by the ship’s onboard physician.
