A vessel construction tie-up between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Imabari Shipbuilding, Namura Shipbuilding and Oshima Shipbuilding is beginning to take shape, with plans to share capacity on major newbuilding projects.
Discussions began in August last year and recently have advanced as MHI looks to fill its docks beyond mid-2019 when its orderbook of 10 LNG carriers, six LPG carriers and one remaining cruiseship for AIDA Cruises runs out.
