The US Coast Guard is easing vessel restrictions over much of the Houston area. But the most significant loading area for gas tankers, the Houston Ship Channel, remains closed.

The USCG says vessel transits will be limited to daylight hours. Ports along the lower reaches of Galveston Bay, including Texas City, Galveston and Freeport, will be limited to vessels with a draugt of 33 feet (10 metres).
