Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has emerged as the owner of two expedition cruiseships ordered at Vard Holdings earlier this year.
The Singapore-listed shipbuilder signed the letter of intent in May, without disclosing the name of the cruise company.
TUI-controlled Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has been identified as the company which placed the order for the 16,100-gt ships today.
Vard said the vessels are specially designed for cruises in polar regions in the Arctic and Antarctica but are also capable of operating in warm water destinations such as the Amazon.
