Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) has landed another Japanese containership newbuilding contract, after securing a pair of 1,800-teu boxships from trading house Itochu Corp.

Shipbuilding players familiar with the order said Itochu booked the feeder vessels on the back of charter contracts of more than 10 years from Seoul-headquartered operator CK Line. The charterer is said to be paying $10,000 per day for the newbuildings.
