SM Line has picked up a large neo-panamax boxship at a price that suggests the fast-rising charter market for big boxships is driving up asset values.
The 8,500-teu Lloyd Don Carlos (built 2006) is understood to have been sold for around $24m, up nearly 25% on prices at the start of the year, when similar ships were being sold for between $15m and $17m.
