Fast-growing newcomer SM Line continues to expand its boxship fleet. The South Korean owner is poised to buy the 8,202-teu ER Tianan (built 2005) for around $26m, taking its tally this year to 18.
The latest acquisition will be its fourth containership in excess of 8,000 teu.
The price under discussion is significantly higher than earlier deals on similar vessels for a design dubbed the new workhorse of the container shipping market.
