Greeks back IMO's emissions target

The Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) has welcomed the IMO agreement to cut carbon emissions 50% by 2050.

It called the move, agreed on Friday in London, "a first but critical step towards the industry’s decarbonisation."

The landmark decision brings shipping in line with the aspirations of the Paris Agreement, it added.

And it called the two weeks of negotiations "intense and difficult".
