Denmark is leading a group of 13 EU states calling for a revision to a directive on reporting of ship data.
Owners' association Danish Shipping said it imposes "huge administrative burdens" on shipping.
The directive introduced National Maritime Single Windows as a way to harmonise reporting obligations from ships into a single electronic system, Danish Shipping said.
In a letter to the European Commission, the group said it wants to “unleash the significant potential for simplification and harmonisation by making the directive future-proof and fit for the digital age by making better use of existing data sources and automation of administrative processes.”
