Oslo-listed BW LPG has fixed one of its VLGCs into a one-year time charter with Petrobras, TradeWinds has been told.

But shipbrokers are puzzled by the move given that owners of large LPG carriers are currently reluctant to lock their ships into time charters at a time when period rates reflect the current low spot market.

No rate has been revealed for the 82,000-cbm BW Prince (built 2007) but it is believed to be in line with sector figures at a time when sources say the spot market is at multi-month lows.
