Rex Harrington, the shipping banker who helped steer the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to a dominant position in the Greek market in the 1980s and 1990s, has died at the age of 83.
Harrington believed Greece was "the driving force of world shipping" and after retirement went on to be a director of several major Greek shipowners including General Maritime, Navios Maritime and Royal Olympic Cruise Line.
