Norway's GC Rieber Shipping has said a fire has now been extinguished on one of its managed research vessels off Senegal.
The blaze broke out in the engine room of the 7,500-dwt Polar Marquis (built 2010) on Monday.
"The fire was put out and the situation is under control," it added on Tuesday.
The vessel is owned by Rieber's joint venture Shearwater GeoServices.
