The blaze struck the FPSO Petrojarl Knarr (built 2014) which had 100 people on board and marks the second incident in six months on the unit.
It comes only a week after Petrojarl Knarr found its first oil in the region.
Norwegian authorities have managed to get the fire under control quickly and ensure that nobody was in danger, local reports say.
