The Greek company's 7,500-gt Ierapetra L (built 1975) was heading for drydock in Igoumenitsa for maintenance after being berthed in Brindisi for a month.
But it turned back to port when the blaze started 25 miles off the Italian coast on 29 November.
Local reports show pictures of the smoke-blackened hull.
A crew of 23 were on board, but no injuries were reported.
