Kuwait Oil Tanker Co has scrapped its last VLCC built in the 1990s, market sources say.
The deal marks the second VLCC demolition sale by the shipowner in as many months.
Shipbrokers and demolition specialists say the 310,000-dwt Al Shegaya (built 1998) has been sold for recycling on the Indian sub-continent.
A price of $400 per ldt is being reported for the Hyundai Heavy Industries-built ship, which works out at $16.98m.
